Welcome to The Divine Archive

There is a beautiful moment in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s, The Great Gatsby, where the windows of New York apartments are small thresholds of intricate hidden worlds.

On the edge of a New York terrace, looking out towards a million windows, a million different blinking eyes stare back at Nick Carraway, and he becomes the witness to an endless expanse of human life. A ghost-like observer with the knowledge that he knows nothing at all.

“I was within and without, simultaneously enchanted and repelled by the inexhaustible variety of life.”

I often find myself beholden to the same glimmering windows in everyday life. To me, a window is anything that guards the threshold between two realms; A window is a perfume, a petal, a profile, a pair of eyes. I see them lined up all around me, and I’m just so excited to crawl inside.

More and more I find that the hidden intricacies of life are revealed to me through these unseen windows. The spiral of a Rose beckons me to another world, a word on a page evokes splendorous sublimes. The more I listen, the more that stories find me.

It has become an endeavour of mine to obtain all the secrets from the other side of these windows. I catch them through my own lens as I see them, and exhibit them in the form of florals, short stories, poems and musings. I store them here, in this ever-growing archive, where I hope to bring the divine into the lives of anyone who encounters it.

I’m so glad that you have found my window. Let this be the start of your endless search.
